Early Life and Education
Rekha Gupta was born on March 15, 1975, in a middle-class family in Delhi. Her father, a school teacher, and her mother, a social worker, instilled in her the values of education, hard work, and public service from a young age. Rekha excelled academically, earning a degree in Political Science from Delhi University and later completing her Master’s in Public Administration from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). She also holds a law degree and practiced as a human rights lawyer before entering politics.
Political Career
Rekha Gupta began her political journey as a student leader at JNU, where she actively participated in debates on social justice, gender equality, and environmental sustainability. Her ability to connect with people and her passion for grassroots development caught the attention of senior leaders in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). She joined AAP in 2012 and quickly rose through the ranks due to her dedication and innovative ideas.
She contested and won her first election in 2015 from the New Delhi constituency, becoming an MLA. During her tenure, she focused on improving public education, healthcare, and women’s safety. Her work in transforming government schools and setting up mohalla clinics earned her widespread acclaim.

Personal Life
Rekha Gupta is married to Amit Gupta, a professor of environmental science at Delhi University. They have two children and are known for their simple, down-to-earth lifestyle. Rekha is an avid reader, a yoga enthusiast, and a strong advocate for mental health awareness.
